A good place to start, for you, is my About page. Honestly, I just spent so long writing what really probably should have been the introduction.
Anyway, welcome to Off Grid Hobbyist. To be honest, I don’t know what to say. I guess I’m just trying to avoid the risk of finding myself homeless and without the ability to live in comfort. I want to avoid the chilling coldness in my bones waking up in a tent and the fear of sleeping in public places… The fear of losing my home and possessions to the bailiffs. What I needed, and what I’m achieving, is something secret. Something off grid, my hideaway. Somewhere I can go and survive, away from the clutches of money; gas, electricity, water, council tax… Avoiding these is critical. They should be a choice and that is what I’m making them. By having an alternative means of living, I can make the choice to live in a conventional British home and pay these bills, or move to an off grid lifestyle and avoid these bills or hybridise and reduce some of my household bills. The world is my oyster in this world of rising living costs.
So we have some land, 250sqm, and a small single car garage (to be confirmed).
We also have a transit camper, year 1979 – it’s older than me! And a transit van (that’s nearly as old as me). A Vauxhall Combo with a roof rack and tow bar and a few other spare cars.
I have many plans on my trello boards I can’t wait to share and I’ll save those plans for another day.
You’re going to like it here. You’re going to see my successes and failures and I’m going to make it so that you can share ideas and maybe even get involved!
But for now, maybe there’s a newsletter subscription box or something you can click on.
